IZAAK WALTON INN

The hotel we are staying is by the Amtrak railroad tracks and station- a short walk of less than a mile through the woods.
The hotel is an old lodge located on the edge of Glacier Park, right by the railroad tracks as can be seen in the photo nearby.
Even though the tracks are just by the hotel, the Amtrak "station" is a little away.

But we didn't actually stay in the lodge itself, but rather in one of the railroad cars that are spread around the property. There were about a dozen of various types of cars. The one that Andrea rented was the red caboose.
It has a very large bedroom with bed on the right hand side- it takes about half the caboose. On the other side there is a small kitchenette with a small table and a couple of chairs.
The second "bedroom" was on the loft, the upper part of the caboose on the photo. Loft sounded appealing but it turned out to be a space of about 30 inches tall, with a thick mattress, making it quite difficult to get in and out, as well as to do anything but sleep.
Nevertheless, it was a pleasant location- I loved hearing the trains go by at night. They didn't go by that often, maybe only two or three times a night, but sufficient to make it enjoyable.

At the back of the caboose we had a deck with a table and chairs- pleasant to sit early in the morning drinking coffee and reading a good book.
The caboose was nestled against a mountain.

This is a view of the back of the caboose from the deck.
